Parents watched with pride as their pre-schoolers were officially moved up to the next grade level under the BRAC learning program managed by Maradeca Inc. Pre-school learners of the BRAC schools in the different municipalities of Lanao del Sur held a province-wide moving up ceremony, or graduation from May 17-21, 2015. The graduation rites had the theme “Saktong Buhay: Sa Dekalidad na Edukasyon Pinanday`”. The moving up ceremony was conducted simultaneously at their respective towns by the project officers and community learning facilitators. The moving up ceremony is an activity of celebrating the one year classes of the pre-school and to level them up to Grade 1 in the next school year. The pre-school learners showed their talents during the moving up activity as their parents proudly watched the improvements in learning of their children. “Im happy that my child learned alot from BRAC school; she is excited for this day as she surpass the pre-school level, we thank their Learning facilitator who is passionate in teaching them and perform as second parents to our child,” one parent said. The moving up activity motivated the learners to move forward and perform well in their education, as parents lend their support to the BRAC project The activity was witnessed by their respective local government officials of the town and barangay, and Depatment of Education representatives. Ms. Aisa Pangcoga, municipal councilor of Bumbaran, extended her gratitude to Maradeca and the BRAC “for delivering free education to the children of Bumbaran, like Barangay Ranao Ibaning, which is one of the remotest area”. “These children were not even enrolled in formal school due to its distance, but BRAC bring its school close to the children,” she said. “You gave them hope for their future,” she said.
