Council officers and members of the Ompongan o mga Taribasok sa Ranao (OTR) visited the farms of their members in Lanao del Sur, to look into the livelihood progress made by the women of the province.
The farm visitation came after the OTR council meeting on September 3 this year in Barangay Guimba and Cabasaran in Marawi City.
The farms are located also in Barangay Cabasaran and Guimba where they grow their seedlings.
A member, Mr. Hadji Ansary, discussed with his co-participants on how he worked hard on managing and maintaining the farm and the productivity of his vegetables. \
Mr. Ansary also emphasized the contributions of MARADECA in his productive harvest through the conduct of intensive trainings on farming.
“Maradeca`s training helped increased my knowledge on natural way of farming thus contribute on the increase of my income as farmer,” he said.
In addition, Najer hadji Jalel, program staff of MARADECA said that “MARADECA did not only give them seedlings to grow or merely livelihood, but also nurture their management skills and their capabilities of working with people effectively“.
“Showing and sharing experiences of the farmers with co- farmers are effective way of encouraging each others to do better, to work better and influence others for a productive way of farming,” Hadji Jalel said.
The MARADECA, or the Maranao People Development Center Inc facilitated the OTR council meeting and the farm visitation to allow the OTR officers and members to see for themselves the actual care and maintenance of the farms used for their livelihood.
The council meeting was participated by 11 members coming from the different areas of Lanao del Sur.
Although it was an OTR council meeting, it was also attended by the Ompongan o mga Bae sa Ranao (OBAERA) which shared their stories on how projects from MARADECA help them with their livelihood.
They said they benefited from the income generating project (IGP) of their organization.
In the meeting, attendees gave update on their respective areas, tackled issues and concern and recommendations and solutions to their concern. The meeting also served as venue for the chairperson to share with them their stories in managing their organization.
